We have begun working with two companies to produce wedding albums.  Each company produces some of the finest products in the industry.  We just received our sample kit from GraphiStudio (direct from Italy) and were blown away at the quality that is offered in their albums.  We can’t wait to see some more of their albums!  We’re more than happy to share the samples with our clients so they can see and feel the quality of these albums.  Of course, the old addage - you get what you pay for rings very true.  I don’t mean to scare anyone away but these products are rather incredibly expensive and it shows in every page.

Zook Box

There are some other products that are offered by GraphiStudios and Zookbinders that are a little bit less mainstream and we’re excited to offer them.  For instance, Zookbinders offers a product called the Zook Box that is suprisingly affordable and available in sizes larger than you might think.  You get a nice little box full of matted photos that sit up on an easel.  Sizes range from 5×5 to 10×10!

GraphiStudios also offers parent books and smaller pocket books that are priced low and available in large quantities so you can send a copy to everyone in your family or even get a copy for everyone at your wedding!

This past weekend we had the opportunity to shoot some wedding portraits with a recently married couple.  We were able to have about an hour alone with the couple downtown Evansville and out on the riverfront.  Even though we had a rain storm try to drench us in the middle of our shoot we were able to duck under an awning and stay dry while the storm passed.  After the storm left we had a brief window of time (before the next storm arrived) to capture the last few images in some really awesome light.  Here’s a few of our favorite images but more are available here.

Most photographers will admit that equipment is important but most of them will also say that the best equipment in the world can’t make up for a bad photographer.  That is true but it is also important to realize that the right equipment will help any photographer get the shots that are needed.

We are fortunate that almost all of our equipment is very new - and we’re continually getting more (new) equipment.  Following is a sampling of our equipment that we take with us to cover a wedding.

  • Canon 30D, digital SLR cameras
  • Wide angle & telefoto lenses
  • Over 32 GB of memory cards
  • Over 4 rechargable batteries per camera (with the chargers, just in case!)
  • Off-camera dedicated flashes (Canon Speedlites)
  • Tripods, a ladder, umbrellas, etc.
  • 17″ high-end laptop for photo editing

We’ve seen a lot of weddings lately and we have enjoyed all of them. I guess that’s a reason why we’re in the wedding photography business - it’s hard to work for yourself (and your client) when you don’t genuinely love what you’re doing. As I look back on weddings that we’ve attended as guests (not as the photographers) we will remember the wedding of our friends David & Amy for quite some time.

We’re relatively small-town folks so when we got invited to a big Jewish wedding in Chicago we were excited for a weekend of friends and fun which was exactly what we got. We had an excellent time at what we would consider a very fancy wedding.

I was a groomsmen in the wedding ceremony but my wife took the chance to take some snapshots of the whole shin-dig. Since I was in the wedding party Audrey was able to get a bit of a backstage pass to some of the events including the rehearsal dinner and pictures before the ceremony. When it was all said and done Audrey ended up with a batch of bad color film so the B&W’s were the only good keepers. Luckily we don’t have to worry about that anymore as we’ve totally converted to digital now.
