There is nothing that Chris and I love more during the month of May than the Indianapolis 500. It has been a tradition for us to get friends together, attend the race and have an awesome party. This year, we decided to go all out…we were craving the coveted Infield parking and viewing mounds. So, here’s what we did…
The gang arrived at our house around 5 a.m. Sunday morning to pack the cars. We rolled out of the driveway promptly at 5:15 a.m. Thanks to our walkie-talkies and David’s smooth driving skills, we found ourselves at the front of the line and entering the track shortly after 6 a.m. It was surprisingly cold that morning, and I was looking forward to a few hours of naptime since the race didn’t start until 1 p.m. Boy, was I wrong…
The keg was tapped at 6:30 a.m., and well, you know how the rest of the day goes from there. Our spot in the Infield was incredible, our tailgate matched by none. With the giant tent and full-sized grill, we were the greatest spectacle in tailgating for sure.
We saw a lot of great things that day…paramedics taking away the drunks, couches on fire, hillbillies in overalls and even a police chase on foot. But at the end of the day, only one phrase can sum it up…”There’s a race?”
